Homemade RVmade Ketchup

Hi, it’s  David  from the 2GuysRving here. I know there are tons of ketchup recipes out there but in my opinion, mine is easy and delicious. So picture it….Sicily, 1995, ( Golden Girls lover ) I go into work and proudly tell everyone that I had made homemade ketchup over the weekend. There was not one dry eye in the break room from, yep, you got it…laughing at the idea. So I whipped out my jar of ketchup and they reluctantly tried it and guess what…..you got it again….wow…they all loved it. They said ” What’s next, mustard?” ( will be a later post). It is one of the easiest things to make without the High Fructose Corn Syrup and has minimal salt.
You’re thinking, why bother making it when I can just go buy it, right? It is the simplest thing to make and you know exactly what is going into it. And I bet most of you have theketchup_002_1[1]
seven ingredients (tomato paste, light corn syrup, white vinegar, salt, onion powder and garlic powder) in your pantry right now. I’ll wait while you go look.
OK, you are back, so let’s get started making some super easy delicious ketchup.
By the way, this is a small batch, about 1 ½ cups.
Ingredients:
1- ounce can of tomato paste ( I prefer Contadina)
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 white vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/2 tbs. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
Directions:
In a medium saucepan, mix all ingredients together, whisk until smooth over medium heat.
When it comes to a boil, reduce and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring often.
Remove the saucepan form the heat and cover until it cools.
Put into a Mason jar container and chill.
It’s that’s simple and tasty.
